After becoming officially engaged (check out my profile photo), my fiancee and I are venturing off to McLeod Ganj, India to teach English to Tibetan refugees for about two months. We are both 25 years old, recently quit our jobs in the finance industry to satisfy this never-ending urge to test our adventurous ambitions!
We leave May 9th and will be returning on August 8th. After volunteering for two months we plan to travel (basically backpack) throughout Northern India. That part fo the trip has not been determined yet, but I hope to share all of our adventures with you throughout our journey.
Right now it's a matter of preparation... I've packed just about any medication I can for any ailment that I could think of! Hopefully we won't need to get so doped up on medication at anytime during the trip, but it certainly can't help to have it handy!
Aside from that, I'm packing about a week's worth of clothes... tons of toiletries, and a itty bitty netbook for blogging (compliments of a very dear friend).
We will fly into New Delhi, spend the night, and.... get ready for this... begin a TWELVE-HOUR bus ride from New Delhi to McLeod Ganj... no toilets on board, folks! I'm very seriously (half kiddingly) am considering bringing a diaper for this bus ride! Ok, that's probably a little farfetched... how about I'll just deprive myself of caffeine and exorbitant amounts of water for a day? Done deal.
Stay tuned... Into India We Go!
Pammi! I'm going to be in Delhi from early July until August 13th. I don't know how long you will be in Delhi at the end of your trip, but let's keep in touch and maybe we can meet up.
